The hard problems don't respect org charts. A flood is a public-safety problem, an environmental problem, a utility problem, a transport problem, and a housing problem at once. Cartos is deliberately built so those pieces sit on one substrate — so they can finally be reasoned about together.

Cartos is a common engine. Agentic AI, over all of it

An intelligence that reasons across the whole picture.

A single platform is only worth it if something can think across the pieces. In Cartos, an AI agent sits above every module, every edition, and every data layer — and answers real-world questions in the language people actually ask them.

Ask the map. The agent discovers every layer a user is entitled to see — assets, incidents, parcels, infrastructure, field captures, satellite change — and queries across them: what's within two kilometres of this river; which schools lost power in the storm; where does new construction overlap a protected zone. It focuses the map, runs the analysis, and writes back an answer whose method is auditable.

Because the agent works over the same access policy as the person asking, it never sees more than they could. Reasoning is the idiom of the platform, not a bolt-on — and it's what turns a pile of layers into an answer to a real problem.

The UAE Base Map is one example of the pattern: a single, authoritative geospatial foundation spanning all seven Emirates, on which federal and local agencies build from the same trusted picture.
